On Sunday, September 21, thousands of runners will take to the course of 21.1 km and some of the most beautiful streets of the city all the way to the Olympic Park. Get ready for a colorful experience at the 32nd edition of the Marathon Beneva de Montréal.
The Half Marathon will start at 7:45 a.m. from Espace 67, located on Île Ste-Hélène. Participants will be informed of their start wave a few days before the race. The number of people per wave will respect the Public Health guidelines.
The Olympic Park’s Esplanade will be set up as a welcome and celebration area for runners. Medal presentations, post-race refreshments, therapeutic and medical care (to be confirmed), celebrations, recovery areas, kiosks, everything will be set up to offer a welcoming environment to all runners.
The organization designed the Half Marathon course in close collaboration with its partners in order to offer a new and attractive experience that will highlight many of the city’s attractions. Aid stations will be set up along the course to hydrate and energize you. The operating conditions of the stations will respect the Public Health standards in effect at the time of the event. The location of the stations is available on the PDF course map.
Pace bunnies
Pace bunnies will be available to help you reach your goal.
Bag check
A bag check service will be available. You will be able to drop off your bag at the start (Espace 67 at Parc Jean-Drapeau) and pick it up at the finish (Esplanade of the Olympic Stadium).
Split times
Timing mats will be installed at several points on the course to capture your intermediate times. It will be possible to follow the progress of an athlete via the mobile application. Details will be revealed in the coming weeks.
Time limit
The time limit to complete the course is 4 hours after the last start (chip time). However, participants must complete 13 kilometers a maximum time of 2h10 (minimum pace of 10 minutes per kilometer). A participant who is not able to maintain the minimum pace will be withdrawn from the race. A broom wagon will follow the last runner and may accompany the athletes to the finish line in the event of a withdrawal. As an organization, we must maintain this minimum limit in order to allow streets to reopen at the indicated times. This is a sign of respect towards the citizens of the city of Montréal which allows us to use its streets.
Ages and registration
Registration is done via the Race Roster platform. All details of the registration policy are available here. The minimum age recommended by the Fédération québécoise d’athlétisme to complete a half marathon is 18 years old.
Prize money and rankings
The general public ranking is based on chip time. Therefore, your starting wave will not influence your overall ranking. Prize money is only available to athletes in the elite wave.
Course certification
The Half Marathon course is measured and certified by Athletics Canada.
