Hydration and nutrition for different distances
Here are some simple but effective tips to help you find your way around the refreshment stations offered at the Montreal Beneva Marathon.
5 km : The SPARK SPORTS NUTRITION team strongly recommends that you simply drink water. A good hydration just before the race should be enough for your effort.
10 km: For any sustained effort longer than 45-60 minutes, you can start to incorporate carbohydrates and electrolytes. Again, proper hydration in the days leading up to the event can greatly aid your performance. At the Montreal Beneva Marathon, we have refreshment stations with SPARK PRO HYDRATATION, located at km 5.9 and 9.3.
21.1 km: To meet your carbohydrate needs, SPARK PRO contains fast and slow sugars that will help you maintain your energy throughout your effort. No “peak” or “down”. Gels will also be present on the course, at km 12.9. Our gels contain 4g of protein (whey) and are easily digested.
42.2 km: Cramps? The electrolytes in SPARK PRO can help ward off the cramps that many fear. We also suggest that you carry electrolyte capsules in case of emergency, especially if the temperature is high. For this distance, you will have more refreshment areas for hydration and gels at kilometers 24.7 and 33.3.
Water will be available at all aid stations and we strongly advise you to test the products before your event. Event boxes can be ordered online at the SPARK SPORTS NUTRITION website, select the Montreal Beneva Marathon and choose your preferred delivery option.
